St George's Vets Accident & Emergency
St George's VetsAccident & Emergency

Blood loss

Whenever your pet is bleeding, try and stop it. If from a cut pad, apply a dressing. Use a piece of clothing if no bandage is available. Alternatively, with your hand, grip above the injured area if on a foot or leg. This should be maintained whilst getting your dog to the vet therefore an extra pair of hands will be necessary. If possible also try to raise the affected area.

Do not apply ointments or any other chemicals to the wound, as they can interfere with its eventual healing.
